What Is an Ijaza?

An Ijazah is a formal license in Islamic scholarship — a teacher's certification that a student has mastered a particular text or recitation to a level where they are authorized to teach it to others. The most sacred form is the Quranic Ijazah.

When you earn an Ijazah in Quran recitation or memorization, your name is added to an unbroken chain (Sanad) that stretches back through generations of scholars, all the way to the Companions who learned directly from the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ himself. This chain is a living miracle of Islam — preserved for over 1,400 years.

Important: Ijaza programs are intensive and require significant dedication. We recommend completing a prerequisite Quran recitation or memorization course first. Contact us to assess your current level and find the right starting point.
